JIUQUAN, March 17, 2025 – China successfully launched a CERES-1 carrier rocket on Monday, placing eight new satellites into orbit as part of its growing space program.

The rocket lifted off at 4:07 p.m. (Beijing Time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, delivering the Yunyao-1 55-60 satellites into their designated orbit. The mission also included the deployment of the AIRSAT 06 and 07 satellites, further strengthening China’s presence in Earth observation and atmospheric monitoring.

This latest launch is part of China’s long-standing commitment to space exploration, which dates back to the successful launch of its first satellite, Dongfanghong-1, in 1970. Since then, China has rapidly advanced in satellite technology, building a robust network for communications, navigation, and scientific research.

Beyond scientific and commercial applications, China’s growing space capabilities play a key role in global space diplomacy. With collaborations on international space research and growing engagement with developing nations in satellite technology, China continues to position itself as a major player in shaping the future of space exploration and cooperation.

The successful launch underscores China’s ongoing investments in space technology and its commitment to expanding both its civilian and commercial satellite networks, paving the way for future advancements in global space initiatives.
